The short answer

An SAT superscore combines your highest Reading and Writing score and highest Math score across test dates. Enter your scaled section scores to calculate that total and compare it with your best single sitting. Each college decides whether it superscores and which score reports it requires.

Combine your best section scores

Enter known Reading and Writing and Math scores from each test date. This calculation does not change your official score reports.

Use scores from your actual reports

Add one row for each test date. Enter Reading and Writing and Math scores between 200 and 800 in increments of 10. The calculator identifies your strongest score in each section, shows the dates that produced it and adds the two values. It also reports the highest total from a single test date.

If your first test was 680 in Reading and Writing and 720 in Math, its total was 1400. A second test with 710 and 690 also totals 1400. Your superscore is 710 + 720 = 1430, which is 30 points above either sitting. This is an arithmetic example, not a student outcome.

Check each college’s policy before sending scores

A calculated superscore is not a new official College Board score report. Colleges may consider highest sections across dates, a highest single sitting, self-reported scores or a different submission policy. Review the current admissions page for each institution and follow its reporting instructions. Do not assume one college’s policy applies everywhere.

Record official tests and practice tests separately. Combining practice estimates can help explore a goal, but it does not establish an official admissions score.

Let the section gap guide your next session

The lower section can be a useful place to investigate, but look at specific mistakes before changing your schedule. A broad section score does not identify a weak skill on its own. Review wrong answers, guesses and unusually slow solutions; select a recurring skill you can practice and check on a fresh question.

Use the dated study-plan generator to reserve those sessions and the error log to record what changed.
